Crews
Crews are named groups of personnel (and their usual equipment) that work together. Instead of assigning five people to a project one at a time, you assign the “Dirt Crew” and everyone who’s in it gets added to the project, along with any equipment associated with the crew.
Available on all plans. Owner and Manager roles can create, edit, and delete crews.
Creating a crew
Section titled “Creating a crew”- Go to Resources → Personnel (crews live inside the personnel page).
- Click the Crews tab or section.
- Click Add Crew.
- Enter:
- Name — e.g. “Excavation Crew A”, “North Yard Dirt Team”.
- Description (optional).
- Personnel — check the boxes next to team members. Each
person’s
crewIdfield updates to reference this crew. - Equipment — check equipment that “belongs” to this crew.
Their
crewIdupdates too.
- Save.
A crew starts with isActive: true and is available everywhere a
crew dropdown appears.
Assigning crews to projects & bids
Section titled “Assigning crews to projects & bids”Projects and bids both have an assignedCrewIds field. When you
pick a crew on either:
- All crew members get added to
assignedPersonnelIdsautomatically. - All crew-linked equipment gets added to
assignedEquipmentIds. - You can still add or remove individual people and pieces of equipment after — the crew assignment is a starting point, not a lock.
This is a big time-saver when you run the same teams on most jobs. Spend 30 seconds setting up your crew rosters once and save 2 minutes on every bid afterwards.
Crew vs individual assignment
Section titled “Crew vs individual assignment”Assigning a crew is optional. You can:
- Assign a crew only.
- Assign a crew AND add extra individuals.
- Skip crews entirely and pick each person one by one.
All three paths produce the same final assignedPersonnelIds list
on the project or bid.
On the mobile app
Section titled “On the mobile app”Crews aren’t a separate mobile navigation target, but the concept flows through:
- Personnel records carry
crewId, so a field user can see which crew they’re on in their own profile. - Project detail views show the assigned crew(s) by name.
- Foremen see all people assigned via the project’s crew in their team roster.
Active / inactive
Section titled “Active / inactive”A crew can be deactivated (soft-delete) with the eye-off icon. Inactive crews disappear from dropdowns but their historical assignments on old bids/projects remain intact.
